Endless Mystery

7 March - 5 April 2025

As we continue our wide-ranging programme of exhibitions for 2025 we are pleased to present a show of Abstract works by three wonderful artists, Susie Leiper, Iain Patterson and Ava Grauls.

In  this show we bring together three artists spanning different generations who create works brimming with beauty and complexity through a diversity of styles and techniques.

Each of the artists tells their unique story, expressing their thoughts and emotions through the marks they put down on the canvas. History, harmony and spontaneity are all to be found here and, for the viewer, endless ways of seeing and interpreting what they see on the canvases in front them.

Iain Patterson is inspired by his real and imagined experience of the natural world and of music. His spontaneous brushwork and line-drawn marks create a rhythm and an innate balance in his paintings which, thrillingly, exude both joy and gravitas.

Greatly inspired by  Chinese art, Susie Leiper’s gorgeous paintings offer a sense of atmosphere and energy in which each of her individual marks work together to create a harmonious whole. Layers of texture and tone invite us to connect with each work and interpret it in our own way.

Ava Graul’s research into the history and culture of countries through the use of maps is distilled into paintings where impasto paint textures and freeform lines create beautiful and intriguing abstract works.

We invite you to join us in celebrating the beauty, creativity and endless mystery of the abstract artwork, and to enjoy the wonderful works exhibited in this show.
