Tatha Gallery is delighted to present Beyond the Surface a solo show by Lynsey MacKenzie, our SSA Annual Exhibition prize winner. Lynsey’s stunning painting “Musk Mallow” stopped us in our tracks at the Preview of the exhibition at the end of last year and we are delighted that she has since been short-listed for the Jackson’s Painting Prize 2023 for her painting ”Skailwind”.
MacKenzie's creative process is deeply intuitive, guided by the vivid recollections and emotional resonance of the places she has encountered. Her work explores the intricate interplay between painting, the essence of place, and the passage of time. Rejecting linearity, her art embraces a non-linear approach, allowing imagery and forms to accumulate organically. This fusion of memory, emotion, and a deliberate absence of chronological structure gives rise to a profound exploration of the ever-evolving relationship between art, location, and the elusive nature of time itself.
We invite you to join us in relishing this exciting double bill of shows – a choice opportunity to experience the purely abstract and the purely figurative side by side in one beautiful venue!
