Printmaking (noun): “the activity or process of making images or designs by printing them from specially prepared plates or blocks”
Rather than a “reproduction”, the fine-art print is an artwork conceived and created by the artist with the understanding of the possibilities and limitations of their chosen technique, be that etching, woodcut, linocut, screen print and so on, and the knowledge of the aesthetic properties of their chosen medium.
