Allusion: Clutha to Tatha is an exhibition of work by thirteen of the elected RGIs (elected members of the Royal Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts), whose vision could be considered part of the narrative tradition.
Usually the “narrative” is implied, and the works in ‘ALLUSION - Clutha to Tatha’ invite a more personal response, with clues sometimes being found in the title of the work. However, any authoritative meaning is often deliberately buried. You are invited to read your own narratives into the often-beguiling artwork of this exhibition.
The first Allusion exhibition was curated by Alice McMurrough RGI and Neil MacDonald RGI and shown in the RGI Kelly Gallery, Glasgow, in Autumn 2015. The exhibition generated much interest and enthusiasm in its many visitors, and Jan Patience, the Herald art critic commented, ”There are 26 works on show in Allusion and every single one has the power to hold you in its grasp.”
The group is very happy to be showing a completely new exhibition in the beautiful Tatha gallery, which over the more than three years of its existence has marked itself out as one of the east of Scotland’s finest venues, hosting a succession of thought-provoking and engaging exhibitions.
