Delia Baillie

Delia Baillie is an artist/teacher/parent who is at her most productive in any one of these pursuits when she’s procrastinating in the other two. Delia’s studio practice focuses on the dichotomy of our reliance on numerical systems and the meandering/circuitous life of the mind. The synchronously fluid and mechanical abilities of the materials and devices associated with painting, printmaking and collage also inform her studio output. Investigating modes of critical discourse out-with established institutions and an interest in the pedagogy of practice-based art education are both at the route of those activities where she finds procrastination least likely to be an issue.

Delia has worked at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design, and other Higher & Further education institutions, since 2002. Initially as a visiting artist running drawing classes for students studying Fine Art or Design, and more recently within Contemporary Art Practice as a lecturer devising and delivering courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. As the recipient of several residencies and scholarships she has had the opportunity to spend time working as an artist in Shetland, Edinburgh, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the USA and Arbroath.
