Artist Statement
Aimie Harding is a sculptural artist based in Fife, Scotland who has recently graduated from Art and Philosophy at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee. Over the course of her studies, she has become interested in exploring the ambiguous distinction between the ‘natural’ world and the ‘human’ world, where our technologies are no longer distinctly ours. Aimie’s practice centres around the creation of sculptural artefacts that exist within an alternative future world. Her interdisciplinary practice is imagination driven, using a range of materials and processes to create sculptures. This includes wheel thrown and hand sculpted ceramics, woodworking, sound recording and creative writing. Inspired by the vast imaginative worlds found in science fiction, her sculptures envision the possibilities that occur as the natural world absorbs our human technologies claiming them for itself in entirely unique ways. Laser engraved creative writing text piece I would like to be displayed alongside my work in the gallery.
